That address is the "Default Personalized Address" setup by OIT when a NetID is generated.
You must be able to access email sent to your address. Without authorization for access to an Amarel owner's resources, external users are not permitt ed to access the system. That enables them to grant access to their owned compute and storage resources to external users (any non-Rutgers personnel such as visiting scholars or personnel at other institutions) using a Rutgers Guest NetID, but those external users may only use the compute and storage resources that belong to that owner and those external users cannot be granted access to Amarel until those owned compute and storage resources are provisioned. Compute and storage resources within the Amarel system can be purchased ("owned") by departments or individual members of the Rutgers research community. That means only current Rutgers students, staff, and faculty are authorized to access those University-owned systems: upon graduation or ending employment with the University, a user will automatically lose the ability and authorization to connect to or use the system. Who may access and use the Amarel cluster? The Amarel cluster is funded by Rutgers University and managed by OARC as a research resource available to all current Rutgers students, staff, faculty (including faculty designated by the University as professor emeritus). Rutgers students, staff, and faculty, please use this form to request access to Amarel:
